6 Months Post-Op

I made a discovery today while brushing my teeth, which I do a lot since my surgery. I discovered that I can actually put some liquid in my mouth, and swish it around without losing it all down my shirt. Do you know what this means? I can seal my lips! Not for long, mind you, but long enough to rinse some toothpaste out of my mouth.

This seems like such a small step in the right direction but all of these steps add up eventually. I am happy at the moment…in fact, I’m pretty downright impressed with myself right now. Thank you very much.

Let me introduce Bubba

If you know me at all, you know all my kids and that would include Bubba. He really does have a name, and a good, strong one at that. When he was just about a year old, my husband called him Bubba and Bethie, his twin sister, picked up on it. She called him Bubba, in her adorable little one year old voice, so we all called him Bubba. And for the longest time, he actually thought his name was Bubba Gump McEwen.

If you know me at all, you’ve heard me tell you about some of the things Bubba says. A lot of people have told me I need to write a book about just that. Since no book publishers are knocking down my door yet, I’ll post them here. It seems just as good a place as any.

For example, as Bubba was going to bed, he said, “Mom, everyday I get a little bit bigger, everyday I grow a little.”
I said, “that’s true, Bubba.”
Then he paused for a minute and said, “but I’ll always be your little boy.”

See what I mean? Melts. My. Heart.
